about:
  eyebrow: "About"
heading: "Twelve years inside fine jewellery has taught Gautam that no decision exists in isolation. Every choice influences the next, from the first gemstone selected to the final image that introduces the collection to the world."
body: "That complete perspective is what he brings to every project."
storyLead: "It started with his mother. And two words that changed everything."
  story:
    - "Fresh out of his gemology course at GIA in Carlsbad, California, Gautam sat down to design a bracelet for her. He showed her tennis bracelets, slim bands, wider profiles, different finishes and different weights.
She looked at every option, smiled, and gave him her brief. <em>Daily wear.</em>"
    - "No sketch. No reference. Just two words, and the expectation that he would figure out the rest. He kept exploring designs until he realised he was asking the wrong question.Instead of asking what bracelet she wanted, he started asking how she lived. What was already on her wrist? What did an ordinary day look like? At home. Running errands. At dinner with family. What would make her reach for this bracelet every morning without thinking?"
    - "That was the real brief. Since then, the process has never started with jewellery. It starts with people.
Clients rarely arrive with perfect clarity. They arrive with fragments. An idea. A feeling. A reference that doesn't quite fit. The work is listening closely enough to uncover what they're really trying to say.
The best designs rarely come from the first answer. They come from asking better questions and paying attention to what isn't said. What clients reach for. What they pause on. What they try on twice. The subtle change in expression when something finally feels right. Or <em>almost right</em>. Because in fine jewellery, almost right is often the most expensive place to be."

details:

quote: "Good isn't subjective. It's built from hundreds of small decisions, each made with intention."
  items:
    - label: "The surface"
body: "A flawless finish isn't about what's immediately visible. It's about the places most people never think to look. The polish should feel the same across the entire piece, from the face everyone notices to the inside of the band almost no one sees. If the finish changes where attention fades, the craftsmanship has changed too."
    - label: "The stones"
body: "Coloured stones in the same piece must match in shade — not approximately. Most people can't name what's wrong; they just feel uneasy. That unease is the eye catching what the brain hasn't processed. A gemologist catches it on sight."
    - label: "The design"
body: "Every element should be there for a reason. Decoration without purpose creates noise. Great design removes as much as it adds, leaving only what strengthens the piece."
    - label: "Manufacturing"
body: "The finished piece should faithfully reflect the approved design. Every proportion, setting, finish, and detail should match the original intent, not a close interpretation. The goal isn't simply to make the piece. It's to preserve the original design through every stage of production."
coda: "Continuity protects the original vision. Every stage remains connected because every decision is made with the same end goal in mind."

faq:
  eyebrow: "Questions people ask"
  heading: "The honest <em>answers</em>"
  items:
    - q: "Who is Gautam Maneck?"
a: "A GIA-certified gemologist and GIA-certified CAD/CAM jewelry designer based in India, with 12 years across the full process of fine jewelry and what happens after it's made. Founder of Ziu Creative Studio — the kind of person brands call when they want one person who knows every stage, not a committee."
    - q: "What does Gautam Maneck do?"
a: "Everything from the first brief to the finished piece to the images that sell it: design direction, gemstone sourcing, GIA-certified CAD/CAM, manufacturing and quality control — and, through Ziu Creative Studio, the visual production that gets a collection seen. He works with established brands, independent labels, and individuals who want one piece made properly."
    - q: "What is a GIA-certified gemologist?"
a: "The GIA (Gemological Institute of America), based in Carlsbad, California, runs the Graduate Gemologist program — the most widely recognised gemological qualification in the industry. It covers the grading, identification and evaluation of diamonds, coloured stones and pearls. In practice, it means the person sourcing your stones actually knows what they're looking at."
    - q: "Can an individual commission a single piece?"
a: "Yes. Whether you have a clear idea, a rough sketch, or just an image on your phone with a vague sense of direction, it starts with one conversation. No minimum. Most of the best pieces started with nothing more than an idea and a decision to see it through."
    - q: "Can a brand commission an entire product line?"
a: "Yes. The two current projects on this page are both full brand partnerships — one covering sourcing and production for a live collection, the other starting at the design stage and running all the way through to launch. Scope is always agreed upfront. No surprises on either side."
    - q: "Do you handle visual production and imagery?"
a: "Yes, through Ziu Creative Studio — AI-powered imagery and video for jewelry and luxury brands, built with the same attention to the product as the production process itself. A collection can go from sourced and made to photographed and ready without the brief ever leaving the room. Visual production can sit alongside a full engagement or be commissioned on its own."
    - q: "Do you work with brands in the US, UK, Europe & UAE?"
a: "Yes. Briefs are discussed, designs developed, stones sourced and collections launched with brands all over the world — coordination happens across time zones without any loss of quality. What doesn't happen remotely is the physical oversight of production; that happens in person, at the manufacturing stage, which is part of why the standard holds."
    - q: "Why one person instead of hiring separately?"
a: "When design, sourcing, manufacturing and visual production all sit with one person, the brief does not change hands. What gets decided at the start is what gets made and shown to the world. One call when something needs a decision. No version drift between what was agreed and what arrived."
    - q: "Is Gautam open to new projects?"
a: "Yes. New projects are taken on based on scope and fit. The best way to find out if it makes sense is a conversation."
    - q: "What is your stance on lab-grown vs. natural diamonds?"
a: "I do not impose a preference, the choice is entirely yours. I work only with premium-quality diamonds:<br>• D–F colour<br>• VVS–IF clarity<br>• Excellent / Ideal cut<br>Whether lab-grown or natural, every diamond is selected for its light performance, cut precision, structure, and overall beauty. The priority is always choosing the right diamond for the piece, not promoting one origin over another."
    - q: "What types of metals do you work with?"
a: "I work across the full range of fine jewellery metals:<br>• 9K, 14K, 18K, and 22K gold<br>• White, yellow, and rose gold<br>• Platinum<br>• Sterling silver<br>Every recommendation is made based on the design, durability, and intended use of the piece."
